Eleven elements to add extra sparkle to your year-end celebration.

Though it feels like summer was yesterday, ‘tis the season for holiday party planning!
Whether you’re envisioning a year-end gala to thank clients and celebrate another successful year for your organization or dreaming of a festive, intimate dinner gathering with friends, we are currently accepting holiday catering bookings in Boston and beyond! We’ll recommend a list of excellent event planners to take your soiree to the next level if your budget allows, or if you’re party-planning yourself, we’ll guide you through key details to make your celebration sparkle.
To help you kickstart your holiday party plans, we’ve curated a handful of time-tested tips to make your year-end celebration one to remember!
FOOD & DRINK
Start your party with festive seasonal passed hors d’oeuvres and then segue into stations. Choose at least three food stations and a dessert bar to give guests a variety of choices while ensuring they mix and mingle.
Consider splurging on a raw bar or sushi rolled to order. Both are always a big hit!
Selecting a pair of holiday signature cocktails and/or mocktails for your menu adds an extra splash of merriment to the always-popular beer and wine bar or full bar, and gives guests an ice-breaker topic during the party. We have an array of signature cocktail ideas to take you from Thanksgiving to Christmas and through the New Year.
SEATING
You don’t need seats for everyone—go with a variety of high and low cocktail tables and watch partygoers mix and mingle. If space and budget allow, renting low seating options like couches, club chairs, footstools and end tables creates a variety of cozy gathering moments for guests.

ENTERTAINMENT & ACTIVITIES
Is it really a party without music? To create a spirited party vibe, keep it simple with festive background music or hire a talented DJ to get folks dancing.
Interactive entertainment elements like casino tables add unexpected fun that helps guests connect as they kick back and celebrate. (For a glimpse inside a casino-themed holiday party we catered, click here.)
If your holiday party invite list includes children—or adults who love to get creative—ask us to add sugar cookie or gingerbread cookie decorating stations. The cookies can double as party favors to take home.
DÉCOR & BRANDING
Choosing a signature color or two can create a simple theme, tying the event together. Feature them in basic décor elements, and we’ll incorporate those pops of color in your food stations.
With advance planning, we can go a step further and weave thematic or company branding into your event. Order custom napkins with your company logo, playful text, or a simple icon...add the same branding and colors to a printed or online invitation...the possibilities are endless!
Consider where else you could feature your event branding. If you go for the casino, for example, print your logo or event text on your chips for a fun memento and a perfect way to mark your golf ball on the course.
PARTY FAVORS
Send guests home happy with a thoughtful party favor—a color-themed winter hat branded with your logo, or food favors like Grab-and-Go packages of Capers’ Signature Brownie Pops or a Self-Serve Candy Station in colors matching your holiday party theme.
We hope these ideas, pulled from 30+ years of Capers' event catering throughout New England, have gotten you in the spirit of holiday party planning!
